In June, work continued on the foundations of the processing plant. The first concrete was poured on the foundation of the SAG mill site following by the mounting of steel plates. The foundations for the carbon-in-pulp circuit are now fully complete, and erection of the leach and water tanks has commenced. A first long-lead item - the vertimill - was delivered on site at the end of the month.

Following its excavation, the water storage facility is now ready for the 2017 rainy season. The piping connecting the east water supply dam and west water sump with the water storage facility has now been almost fully laid. The sump already holds some 80,000 m3 of water.

The month also saw the onset of pre-strip mining at the Boungou deposit. Construction of the resettlement village has reached 60% completion.
